British International Helicopter Services Ltd has an exciting opportunity to join it’s team of professionals supporting the Falkland Islands operation. We are seeking a Senior Training Captain for our AW189 SAR Fleet.
Duties and Job Description
The position of AW189 Senior Training Captain reports to the BIH Head of Training and is based primarily at the company’s Newquay Airport base however, regular visits to the AW 189 SAR operation in the Falklands will be required. The primary function is to provide the management team with the specialist operating, training and standardisation advice. Therefore, achieving and maintenance of a valid AW189 SAR line check is an essential requirement. Additionally, he/she is to provide instruction and examining on the AW189 in both the aircraft and the simulator. When required he will deliver type qualified crews via the Head of Training to the Director of Operations. This will involve coordination amongst several parties and may involve visits to any company operation, any simulator location as well as to other locations as required by the company.
The successful applicant will contribute to line flying duties.
Detailed duties are contained within the company Operations Manual but will include conducting Type Rating training, assisting of planning and supervision of all type related training including initial qualification, line and role training and ground related training. Also, as the STC you will be expected to propose amendments to policies and procedures to reflect changes in legislation or changes to aircraft operation. As a valued team member, you will be encouraged to propose improvements to safety in training.
The successful candidate will be required to adhere to company policies and procedures as detailed in the company Operations Manual
Working Routine. Working routine will be as directed by the Head of Training and in line with BIH FTL requirements. Flexibility is essential.
Remuneration. Level of remuneration will be in accordance current allowances for TRI/TRE as appropriate.
Minimum requirements.
- EASA Airline Transport Pilots Licence (Helicopters)
- 2500 hours including 500 hours on Medium/Heavy helicopter types
- Previous rotary command experience
- Ideally previous SAR experience
Selection Criteria. Selection will be by interview. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a sound technical understanding of SAR operations and, preferably, of the AW 189 aircraft. They should demonstrate ability to instruct as well as having an interest in being part of a training department whose aim is the promotion of high-quality training and the maintenance of very high standards
Applications. Applications are invited from AW189 type rated pilots preferably with a training background or SAR experienced pilots holding a current EASA TRE qualification on another type. Necessary training for this position will commence in 2019.
