Captain - Super King Air

2Excel Aviation Ltd is an industry leader in specialised and innovative solutions for aviation’s most complex challenges. Our success is based on the talented and experienced people that make up our workforce.  Our Special Missions division delivers specialist aviation services to Government and industry customers.

Special Missions operate from several bases around the UK and each base is assigned a Base Manager.

About the Role

We are looking for a Captain willing to take on the Humberside Base Manager role to join our talented team and help us deliver the UK fixed-wing search and rescue service. The flying will be varied and challenging over day and night shifts; this is not your average A to B aviation job. You will be responsible for the delivery of specialist surveillance tasks on behalf of the UK Coast Guard with additional managerial duties alongside your flying role. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for the right individual to join 2Excel.

You will initially be flying the King Air 200 under single pilot rules.  From November 2024 we will begin to deliver on the second generation Search and Rescue contract, meaning you will transition into flying the King Air 350 with a First Officer under multi-pilot rules.  Each crew will also have a Sensor Operator who manages the sensors and mission equipment.

Alongside flying duties, as Base Manager you will be a key member of the Special Missions Management Team, acting as point of contact for crews and the customer alike, whilst actively supporting the Head of Fixed Wing Search and Rescue to maintain the overall effectiveness and success of Special Missions.  Your job will be to ensure that all aircraft, equipment, and crew at your base are available, configured, capable, and ready to deliver the contracted services safely, efficiently and compliantly.  Where required, you’ll produce data for the customer and/or the organisation.  Due to the nature of the role, it’s inevitable it will grow and develop and you will have autonomy to make it your own.

About You

You’ll be an experienced Pilot with a desire to do more than just fly.  Ideally, you’ll have managerial experience but, if not, you’ll at least have a natural aptitude for leadership and an ability to engage teams.  You’ll probably have a background in military, police or coastguard setting but this isn’t essential.  It would also be great if you already had a King Air Type rating but we can provide training.

To be considered for this role, as a minimum you must have:

Class 1 medical
UK CPL (or ATPL) with IR
1500 + total flying hours (Including 750 PIC, 100 IR and 100 Night)
At least 100 hours on King Air Series aircraft (or equivalent, at the discretion of the Director of Flight Operations)
What we can offer

In return, we can offer a stable roster with a competitive base salary and shift allowance.  In addition, we will provide generous holiday allowance, private health care and a company pension.

Apply using the ‘Apply Now’ button. Please upload an up to date CV which includes your current total flying hours.  Please also upload a covering letter noting your salary expectations and current notice period/availability.

2Excel is committed to promoting equitable treatment, encouraging diversity, and embracing inclusion in our recruitment processes and workforce.  We are proud to be recognised as a Disability Confident Employer.

* Successful applicants who do not already have a current King Air type rating will need to make themselves available for initial training.  This may mean you will need to spend up to 3 weeks away from home in the simulator for initial training.  This will require TSA clearance and a Visa (most likely US).  We will support successful applicants through this process, but anything precluding you from being able to commit to the training or obtaining the appropriate clearances will mean your application will not be successful.  All costs related to training (est £20,000) will be subject to a bond for a 2 year period, repayable in the event you leave our employment.  The value of the bond will decrease by 25% every 6 months during that 2 year period.
